The Use of Power Tools
Power tools are used for every construction project nowadays and make the job easier and faster to complete due to their light weight and battery packs eliminating the need for running electrical cables all over the job site. Most tools needed electrical cables in the past but with the development or new battery technologies common tools like the drill gun, jigsaw, sawzall, circular saw, nail gun, and hand sanders are all run from batteries and make working with them much easier. Because of the ease of use with these new lightweight tools, the element of over confidence and relaxation could increase and in turn accidents could occur so safety is a priority.
Wear Safety glasses when using power tools. Working with wood or metal with these power tools cause tiny wood chips or micro metal filings to fly all over the place and a direct hit in the eye with hot metal is totally avoidable by wearing safety glasses or goggles.
Wearing ear plugs will prevent permanent ear damage and will stop the annoying ringing in your ears in the evening after a noisy day at work.
Do not wear baggy or real loose fitting clothing as this could get pulled into the power tool which would then cause lacerations and damage to your flesh and bones. If your on the tools all day long then gloves would be a good idea to protect your hands and absorb the vibration from the power tool.
Make it a habit to check your tools regularly to see if they are safe to use and have not been damaged. Frayed cables, loose damaged plugs should be replaced and blades, drills etc should be inspected for cracks and bad blemishes that could cause them to shatter during use. Finally, Use the right toll for the correct job and you will not put yourself in a dangerous situation.
